What is the single most effective thing I can do in this moment?
Today is the final day of Deconstructing Patriarchy. I feel genuinely sad to be winding it down. It’s helped me think a lot more deeply, and I’ve gotten so much great feedback from readers. I’m going to think on ways I can incorporate this approach into my regular editorial calendar, and am open to your suggestions. I can assure you that this series will continue in some way, though not daily (at least not for now).
In the meantime, I am going to be running another limited-run series in February. This series, Deconstructing Masculinity, will be a lot like Deconstructing Patriarchy, with short, reflective essays. It will target men, with an emphasis on noticing and reducing unconscious misogyny.
I urge you please not to use your paid subscription to share it with the men in your life. I don’t believe in working for free for men, and men who are actually committed to change will happily pay $8 for the help. In fact, a man’s willingness to pay is one way to test his willingness to learn (though paying doesn’t necessarily mean he will learn, obviously).
As with everything I do, I welcome feedback and thoughts. If there are specific issues you would love to hear me explore for/with men, please share them in the comments. Thank you all for reading and being part of this community. I’m so lucky to be here with you.
